I started coming to Elizabeth’s yoga classes fairly new to yoga. I benefited immensely from her clear guidance through breath, movement and intention in each practice. She is very attentive to form and injury avoidance which I really appreciated. One of the things that made her a favorite yoga instructor of mine were her reminders to be bright, and to breath and smile through each pose.

Elizabeth is an awesome yoga instructor and I hope that her move to Santa Cruz will give new students get the chance to have such a wonderful instructor.

If you’re looking for a positive, knowledgeable, fun yoga teacher, Elizabeth is it. She not only has an inexhaustible knowledge of the poses and any modifications, but she also knows the body and will keep you safe. She is comfortable teaching all levels in the same class and keeps everyone engaged. She is articulate and concise in leading the class, and explains subtle nuances in the poses that I have never heard from other teachers.

Elizabeth motivates her students to try new poses in a lighthearted, open-minded, playful way that pushes her students to explore new limits.

Elizabeth customizes every class and tailors each one to incorporate student’s requests. For example, if my hips were extra tight one day, she would include a hip opener in the practice.  Before I attended her yoga class, I was going to physical therapy for my shoulder. A few months into practicing yoga with Elizabeth, my shoulder pain was significantly reduced, and many of the regular aches and pains that accumulate from sitting at a desk all day were gone. Plus, my yoga practice has greatly improved and my library of poses has expanded thanks to Elizabeth.

I started private lessons with Elizabeth last year as physical therapy for my scoliosis. My goal was to better compensate for my curvature, and build strength where my back was concave. I wanted to stop my scoliosis from getting worse and I wanted to be able to hold certain poses without the fear that a nerve would catch or my back would go out.

Elizabeth focused on very basic poses in the beginning. With a lot of hard work and focus, I was able to hold these poses, while maintaining proper alignment even with my scoliosis. She encouraged me to open to change and transformation, and with a lot of yoga practice along with chiropractic therapy and traction therapy, I was able to improve my curvature ten degrees.

Her patience and ability to problem solve has been instrumental in my practice.

It’s an amazing journey now as I tackle harder poses. Elizabeth continues to be just as encouraging as she was in the beginning. Her patience and ability to problem solve has been instrumental in my practice. Now instead of avoiding poses that caused me discomfort, I pin point what I was doing that was causing the discomfort and execute the pose correctly from a place of strength instead of frustration.

And Elizabeth is probably the sweetest person I know. I leave every lesson with a smile on my face. I think I was just so used to treating my scoliosis with contempt and aggression, trying to force it to be something its not. And she has helped me look at my back differently, treating it with kindness and understanding.
I’m so grateful Elizabeth was recommended to me and I look forward to the future as I grow stronger and confident in my practice.

Taking classes with Elizabeth for the past year has been amazing. She is kind, gentle and compassionate, but not afraid to correct you when you are not positioned correctly. She makes the class enjoyable and a pleasure to attend. Since taking her classes I’ve learned so much about my body, muscles and yoga that I never knew before. Elizabeth is great at explaining what each pose or position is for and what it does for you.

Working with Elizabeth has been an enlightening experience and inspired me to take yoga more seriously. I appreciate her skill and knowledge and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking to start their practice.
